Our Dental Implant procedure
If you need treatment to rebuild your smile, Dr. Suway will create a model of the smile that he wants to create for you.
In your initial consultation for dental implants, Dr. Suway will explain the procedure to you in full, and answer all of your questions. The next stwp will be to determine whether you are a good candidate for implants.
Dr. Suway will make sure to get a full medical history from you. In addition to a full oral examination and xrays, Dr. Suway will photograph your mouth and jaw using our intraoral camera. He may send you to obtain a CAT scan to fully determine the depth of bone available in your jaw to support the implant posts.
Next, Dr. Suway will take a wax impression of your teeth, and create a working model of what he expects that your smile will look like after you get the implants. You will review this model with Dr. Suway, and decide what you would like to have your smile look like. The choice will always be up to you.
Your implants will be custom-crafted
A model of your future teeth will help you and Dr. Suway finalize your treatment plan.
Once you've approved the model, Dr. Suway will begin his work on your teeth. If you have teeth that are broken down beyond repair, he may painlessly extract them. When your mouth is ready, he will surgically implant the necessary posts for your implants, and carefully ensure that the surgery heals fully.
Sometimes your replacement teeth can be placed in the same visit as the posts. If not, you will be able to have temporary teeth while you heal. Dr. Suway will make sure that you are happy with the size, shape and function of your temporaries, and then procedure to provide you with permanent teeth that you will absolutely love.

Are you a candidate for dental implants?

The ideal candidate for a dental implant is in good general and oral health. Adequate bone in your jaw is needed to support the implant. Some people who have lost bone in their jaw still can get implants, but first the bone must be rebuilt using special bone-grafting procedures.
People who are currently wearing partial or full dentures can replace these with dental implants, or use implants to stabilize and secure the denture, making it much more comfortable.
People who are not good candidates for dental implants include:

People with existing medical conditions. If you can have routine dental treatment, you can generally have an implant placed.
